SANTA MONICA -- Can’t get enough breaking housing news and analysis from all over the country? Enjoy spirited, barbed, passionate comments? Then check out Ben Jones’ excellent blog, www.thehousingbubbleblog.com. From his perch in northern Arizona, Ben aggregates like crazy into long-ish, thematic posts. He’s particularly good at combing through medium-sized newspapers to monitor trends outside major cities. Then his readers weigh in, fast and furious. It’s not uncommon for a single post to generate 200 comments in a couple of hours.

Is there an axe being grinded here? Yes, and loudly. Most of the posts and most of the comments reflect a bearish view of housing. Really bearish, like hell-in-a-handbasket. The resident villain on this site (and many other housing blogs, actually), is David Lereah, Chief Economist for The National Association of Realtors who is mocked, ridiculed, and generally reviled for his bullish comments on the housing market. If you agree, you’ll feel like you’re home. If you disagree, well, a little disagreement is good, it challenges the mind. Enjoy.
