Tom Cruise has apparently been tapping away on his own personal ‘rent-or-buy’ calculator, and it is now flashing ‘buy.’ The Times’ Ruth Ryon reports Cruise, who has been renting a house, has bought a $35 million place in Beverly Hills that was ‘not on the market.’

‘Most lenders don’t want to foreclose,’ a Countrywide Financial executive tells Michelle Hofmann, who lays out guidance for those at risk of foreclosure. Cliff Notes version: don’t delay, contact your lender, try to make a deal.
