Something about my new Yahoo email account (lalandblog@yahoo.com) acts as a magnet for those Nigerian-fortune-waiting-to-be-claimed email scams. I used to read them, years ago, out of curiosity, but I just delete them now.

But I do read my new favorite scam emails, which usually start with a subject line like this: ‘RE: Your Re-Fi Application.’ I hate to even ask, but are there people out there who really fall for these? Here’s one I received today:

‘Thank you for your recent interest, your re-fi application is ready to be accepted.

Good credit or Not, We Are Ready to Give You a Substantial Amount and after further review our lenders have established the lowest monthly payments possible.

Process will only take 1 minute or less, follow the confirmation secure link below please and we will be in contact asap:’

(Then there is an internet address that I’m not going to repeat, as I don’t want to be sued.)

Comments? Questions? Do these things really work?
