Built by a developer in 1911, destroyed by a developer in 2007. That’s the story of what was, until today, the oldest house in Van Nuys. There was a last-ditch effort to save it, but the bulldozer didn’t wait. Condos will follow.

‘I’m absolutely devastated, absolutely devastated,’ Richard Hilton, who had rallied a last-minute coalition to save the home, told the Daily News.

It’s too bad, if you ask us, but we grew up in New England, where nobody ever tears down anything.
