Good morning, Colt Brennan*. We thought we’d break format and give you a quick menu of items that caught our eye, beginning with The Great Loan Blog’s educated guess that, given mounting inventory and future mortgage resets, the best time to buy a house will be 2010 or 2011. (Our take: This advice is relevant only for those intent on timing the market; there are other reasons to buy.)

Manhattan Beach Confidential weighs in on the Bush foreclosure plan, calling it a ‘Band-Aid for Housing.’
There’s also an interesting post there about a truly awful trend in cosmetic surgery for houses: ‘cosmetic’ stone laminate, or, as MBC likes to call it, ‘stapled-on stone.’

L.A. Times consumer columnist David Lazarus tells of buying a house and then being swamped by pushy offers for ‘mortgage protection’ insurance
. (It pays your mortgage if you die). His advice: The product is worthwhile, but shop for it on your own time and terms.

The L.A. Times profiles Oak Park, a 40-year-old planned community in Ventura County. Price check: A 4-bedroom, 3-bath home is listed for $979,000.
