The undisputed star of the 2007 Los Angeles Auto Show is going to be what a lot of Hollywood stars are -- inaccessible. Nissan plans to bring its GT-R super-car into the U.S. in quotas of 1,500 a year. And to make it just a little more hard to get, only selected dealers will be selling it.

Those dealers will be the ones that sell a lot of 350Zs (so, thankfully, there’s bound to be at least one of those in the Greater L.A. area) and agree to install a specially equipped service area staffed with certified trained GT-R technical personnel. But with prices of $69,850 for the base model and $71,900 for the premium version, plus the obvious kudos, competition for the franchise should be brisk.

Orders will be taken from Jan. 1, 2008. Spending New Year’s Eve outside a Nissan dealership doesn’t sound like much of a party. However, the celebration of being a GT-R owner should go on for a long time after.
