Candy brothers mark down the price of their yacht

Two English developers who want to build a condominium, hotel and retail complex in Beverly Hills have had to cut the asking price on their yacht because the fancy boat market is ailing, according to the London newspaper Evening Standard. Nicholas and Christian Candy, who control the former Robinson-May department store property on Wilshire Boulevard, have reduced the price of their 146-foot yacht Candyscape from $19.5 million to $16.3 million. The Candys spent millions refurbishing it to their tastes, which included a lavatory lined in leather taken from antique Louis Vuitton suitcases. The yacht is moored in Monaco, so head there if you’re interested, but remember the price doesn’t include the Candys’ chase boat, Catch Me If You Candy. Or if buying the yacht is out of the question, perhaps you would like to rent it. The Candys have been chartering it for about $126,000 a week when they can, the newspaper said, reminding readers of the old maxim that ‘yachting is like standing under a cold shower tearing up £20 notes.’
