Every now and then you’ll run into a post office that has short lines even during December. Since this is the season of giving, here are three post offices that probably will have shorter lines than your typical station.

First up: The Los Angeles Terminal Annex station at 760 North Main St., downtown. While once the hub of mail activities in the center of the city, as you can see here, few people even know it’s still open. With plenty of free parking out front, this should be the post office of choice for anyone who lives or works downtown.

Another underused post office is the one at the Hollywood & Highland shopping complex. Nestled away below the ground floor on Highland (the east side of the ‘mall’), the post office there might even have better hours than the one you normally patronize. It’s open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays.

A ‘secret’ post office of note is the one at 5700 Wilshire Blvd. in the lobby of the Miracle Mile office building formerly occupied by Variety. Tucked inside a magazine and candy store, this post office will take care of all of your shipping and mailing needs, but it’s closed on weekends.
