Going green may not always be the cheapest way to do things, but sometimes even eco-consumers can catch a price break.

Inhabitat, a blog that tracks innovations in sustainable architecture and home design, is offering a few sale items from its shop. Up to 50% will be knocked off everything from baby apparel to home decor items.

The site, started by New York designer Jill Fehrenbacher in 2005, is selling natural latex rubber and vegetable-tanned leather Veja volley sneakers for women at half off, or $75. ‘Bambu’ bowls going for $12 each are handmade with natural lacquer.

But even with the discounts, the prices have far to go before reaching bargain basement.

A 2-foot-tall elephant toy, tagged at $98 at 23% off, is hand-knit by female artisans in rural Kenya using natural wool yarns treated with vegetable-based dyes. And the ‘Noonsolar Cortland’ tote, with organic hemp/cotton lining the interior, is 25% off but still costs $313.50. But it’s big enough to hold files, and has solar panels so you can charge your electronics over several days.
