After weeks of liquidation sales, bankrupt Circuit City Stores Inc. will shut its doors for good this weekend, according to the Associated Press.

Circuit City, which used to be the nation’s second-largest consumer electronics chain, announced in January that it would close all 567 U.S. stores after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in November.

Circuit City was slated to shut its doors for good by the end of this month, but is closing early because most of its merchandise has been sold, said Scott Carpenter of Great American Group, one of four companies appointed to liquidate the chain.

‘We’re basically running out of inventory a week early,’ Carpenter told the AP.

Crowds of customers lined up at local Circuit City stores when closeout sales began in January. However, many left empty-handed and complained that prices were not low enough.
