After recalling more than 600,000 high chairs last week, the Consumer Product Safety Commission today announced more recalls and more problems with baby products — this time pacifiers and play yards.

About 40,000 Zoo Pacifiers were recalled because children could choke on the nipple, which can easily break away from the pacifier’s base, the commission said in a warning statement. No injuries involving the pacifier have been reported, the statement said.

The Zoo Pacifiers, which feature cartoon animals as handles and have ‘Mi Tosoro’ printed on the packaging, were imported from Spain by Healthtex, the commission said.

The pacifiers were sold in U.S. supermarkets and pharmacies from December 2002 through this March for about a $1.40 each. Parents who own a Zoo Pacifier should call Healthtex toll-free at (866) 348-5080 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Eastern time on weekdays, the statement said.

About 25,000 Travel Tender play yards were recalled because one or more rails can collapse unexpectedly, posing a fall or entrapment hazard to small children, the commission said. At least five reports of one or more rails collapsing, with no injuries, have come into the commission, the statement said.

The Travel Tender play yards were made in China and imported by Simplicity Inc. and SFCA Inc., which appear to no longer be in business, the commission said.

The portable play yards include a bassinet and changing table and were sold at Burlington Coat Factory stores across the U.S. as well as online at www.babiesrus.com, http://www.kohls.com and www.target.com from March 2005 through this January, the statement said.

Owners of the Travel Tender play yards should contact the stores where they bought them or go to www.cpsc.gov for more information.
