The makers of the supplement hoodia say it will reduce people’s appetites and help you lose weight. The Federal Trade Commission begs to differ.

It says that not only does this seem to be a bogus claim, but the hoodia some companies are selling isn’t even proper hoodia from southern Africa. Go get ‘em, FTC, consumer columnist David Lazarus says. But where’s the Food and Drug Administration amid all these alleged shenanigans?
