The Consumer Product Safety Commission today recalled 4,300 play sets sold at Toys R Us, a day after the agency recalled about 60,000 trampolines. Consumers are being asked to stop using the products immediately.

The Step2 Play Up Gym is potentially unsafe because the triangular hangers that attach the swings’ ropes to the upper rail of the play set can break, causing children to fall. The manufacturer, Step2 Co. of Streetsboro, Ohio, said it received 17 reports of hangers breaking. No injuries were reported.

The play sets were sold at Toys R Us stores nationwide from January through April, priced around $400. The sets were made in China and the United States. For more information or to receive a set of replacement hangers and instructions, contact Step2 at (800) 347-8372 or visit the company’s website.

On Tuesday, the commission recalled about 60,000 13-foot square trampolines made by Skywalker Holdings of Brigham City, Utah. The straps supporting the top of the trampoline’s enclosure to the poles can fail; the enclosure could drop if the straps break, posing a risk that users could fall from the trampoline.

Skywalker Holdings has received at least 250 reports of straps breaking. No injures were reported.

The trampolines were sold at specialty stores and major retailers nationwide and online from January 2007 through February 2009 for $400 to $600.

Consumers should contact Skywalker Holdings at (866) 603-5867 or visit the company’s website to obtain a free repair kit.
