About 22,500 Bugaboo Bee strollers were recalled today by the Consumer Product Safety Commission and Hermosa Beach-based Bugaboo North America Inc.

The recall comes after Bugaboo North America received 121 reports of brake failure for one or both sides of the Bugaboo Bee stroller, causing it to unexpectedly roll away on an incline, the commission said in a statement. No injuries have been reported, the commission said.

Bugaboo Bee strollers were sold in black, blue, dark khaki, pink, red and yellow and have the item code 580210 on a label on the back of the seat and item code 50100 on a label on the plastic support under the seat, the statement said.

“Bugaboo Bee” is printed on the left side of the seat, the commission said.

The strollers sold for about $530 each at retailers nationwide and websites from August 2007 to April 2009, the statement said.

Anyone who owns the Bugaboo Bee stroller should stop using it immediately and contact Bugaboo for a free bracket repair kit.

The repair kits can be requested through a special order form online at www.bugaboo.com, by e-mail at bugaboobee-service@bugaboo.com or by phone at (800) 460-2922.
