The poor economy is turning into a good deal for people who like to eat at fancy restaurants. DineLA, a joint promotion by the Los Angeles restaurant community, the Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau and American Express, said 260 eateries will participate in the program next month, a 49% increase over last year.

The promotion, which depending on the restaurant, can be for lunch, dinner or both, runs Oct. 4-9 and Oct. 11-16. It is not good on Saturdays.

The promotion offers meals at three price points, depending on what the restaurant decides to offer. For dinner, the lowest price is $26, the middle grade is $34 and the top tier is $44. Lunch prices are $16, $22 and $28. Beverages, taxes and gratuities are not included.

Some of the restaurants include: Fuego at the Maya, Michael’s Santa Monica, Drago Centro, Rosa Mexicano, Spago Beverly Hills, the Bazaar, Cache and Campanile.
