How much would you be willing to pay to slash your cable TV bill? That’s the question posed by Sezmi, a low-cost substitute for cable or satellite TV that goes on sale Thursday at Best Buy stores in Los Angeles and parts of Orange, San Bernardino and Riverside counties.

Sezmi charges only $19.99 a month for about 75 channels, most of them from local broadcasters, plus free and pay-per-view programming from the Internet. The monthly fee drops to $4.99 for those not interested in the 15 cable networks Sezmi carries. But the equipment required for the service costs $299.
