President Obama this morning signed a $24-billion measure that extends unemployment benefits for an extra 20 weeks.

Noting that there have been signs that the economy is turning around, Obama insisted that his administration will continue to be focused on job creation.

We “have to continue to pursue measures that create new jobs,” Obama said hours after the national unemployment rate was reported to be 10.2%.

“I can promise you I won’t let up until all Americans who want to find work can find work and until all Americans can earn enough to raise their families and keep their businesses open,” he said.

The measure also extends the popular tax credit for home buyers.
