Biden leaves Washington to see ailing mom

Vice President Joe Biden has left Washington to spend time with his ailing 92-year-old mother.

The White House says Biden returned home to Wilmington, Del., where other members of his family had already gathered. Jean Finnegan Biden became seriously ill in recent days.

Biden had been scheduled to meet with President Obama early today and take part in meetings with Treasury Secretary Timothy H. Geithner and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.
