Biden’s 92-year-old mother dies

Vice President Joe Biden’s 92-year-old mother has died after becoming seriously ill in recent days.

In a statement, the vice president said Jean Finnegan Biden died today in Wilmington, Del., surrounded by her family and loved ones. Biden said his mother was the center of the family, teaching them that faith will guide them through tough times.

Biden left Washington on Thursday to be with his mother in Wilmington, his hometown. The vice president’s office said details on services would be announced in the coming days.
