Sarah Palin has contributed to civic service in Wasilla, Alaska, the ex-mayor has contributed service to the state of Alaska, and now the ex-governor will be contributing something to the nation’s No. 1-rated cable news network, Fox.

Howard Kurtz, the Washington Post media critic with reliable sources, reports word from a Fox News executive today that the network will soon announce that the GOP’s 2008 nominee for vice president will become a Fox contributor.

In addition to appearing on various shows, Kurtz says, Palin will host an occasional program featuring inspirational tales about ordinary Americans. That will put two erstwhile 2008 candidates for national office on the Fox lineup. Mike Huckabee, the former governor of Arkansas who sought the GOP nomination for president, has his own weekly show.

Huckabee and Palin both are viewed as potential candidates for 2012.
