First family goes back to school for evening event

President Obama is switching from affairs of state to matters closer to home and hearth.

The first family took a motorcade this evening to Sidwell Friends School in Washington, where Malia, the Obamas’ older daughter, attends school.

A White House spokesman says the family is attending an event at the school and gave no other details.

Just before leaving the White House with First Lady Michelle Obama, his two daughters and Michelle’s mother, Marion Robinson, the president spoke to House Democrats about healthcare reform, the economy and relief efforts in Haiti.
