President Obama plans to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with the prime minister of Ireland.

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said Friday that Brian Cowen will be at the White House to celebrate the holiday. Gibbs said Obama appreciates Cowen’s work with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

Gibbs said the celebration on March 17 is a reminder of the relationship between the United States and Ireland.
