Former President Carter’s eldest grandson has easily won a seat in the Georgia state Senate, making him the first Carter elected in Georgia politics since the 1970s.

Jason Carter, 34, ran in a special election Tuesday as a Democrat, the same party as his grandfather, for the vacant seat.
