Fourteen-year-old Anamika Veeramani of North Royalton, Ohio, has won the National Spelling Bee.

Anamika spelled the medical word “stromuhr” to capture the top prize Friday night. She receives more than $40,000 in cash and prizes — and, of course, the huge winner’s trophy.

Anamika is the third consecutive Indian-American bee champion, and the eighth in the last 12 years. It’s a run that began when Nupur Lala won in 1999 and was featured in the documentary “Spellbound.”

Three spellers finished in a tie for second.
