PHILADELPHIA -- Alicia Sacramone stood amid the falling red, white and blue confetti and watched as Shawn Johnson, Nastia Liukin and six American men were announced as Olympians. Sacramone rolled her eyes afterward and said, ‘I was kind of wishing I was one of the boys.’

The U.S. men named their Olympic squad and three alternates Sunday, but the women won’t name a complete team until July 20.

So even though Sacramone, 20, is being conceded a spot by nearly every girl who is or may be on the team -- ‘There’s no doubt Alicia will go,’ longshot Bridget Sloan said -- Sacramone didn’t get to celebrate on the large stage.

Instead, she will go back home to Winchester, Mass., and keep training and wait to have her name announced inside a small gym in New Waverly, Tex. ‘I wish it would have been tonight,’ Sacramone said. ‘I’ll just have to wait.’
