BEIJING -- Kristin Armstrong, probably best known outside cycling for the number of times she has to answer the question about whether she is related to Lance, now has some fame of her own.

Armstrong of Boise, Idaho, won the women’s time trial in Olympic cycling Wednesday.

She finished the 14.6-mile course 24.29 seconds ahead of silver medalist Emma Pooley of Britain.

Armstrong is only the second U.S. woman ever to win an Olympic cycling gold medal.

The first was Connie Carpenter-Phinney -- in Los Angeles in 1984.

Her son, Taylor Phinney, is competing here.

By the way, Kristin Armstrong is not related to Lance.
