There’s a new sheriff in Beijing and he’s a 19-year-old from Eatonton, Ga. Maybe you haven’t heard of him, but people who fancy themselves skeet shooters know all about Vincent Hancock.

The U.S. Army marksman won the skeet shooting gold medal Saturday in Beijing in, what else, a shootout with Norway’s Tore Brovold after each scored 145 points through qualifying and medal rounds.

Hancock won a world championship as a 16-year-old and took the World Cup title earlier this year. Here’s an article from a Georgia newspaper about his rise to prominence.

‘Ever since I first started competing at 11, it was not only my dream to make it to the Olympics, but it’s also been my dream to win the Olympics,’ Hancock said in the article.

Another Olympic dream fulfilled.
