BEIJING -- One day after Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh overcame a soggy beach and an inspired Chinese team to win the gold medal in women’s beach volleyball, the conditions were near perfect for their male counterparts.
Todd Rogers of Santa Barbara and Phil Dalhauser of Ormond Beach, Fla., took advantage of the clear day for a 23-21, 17-21, 15-14 victory in the gold-medal match Friday against Brazil’s Fabio Magalhaes and Marcio Araujo.
Rogers and Dalhauser, the favorites, lost their opening match here, against a Latvian team, but didn’t falter again.
