Simon Ammann of Switzerland wins gold in men’s large hill ski jumping

Switzerland’s Simon Ammann became the first ski jumper to win four individual Olympic titles with his victory in the large hill event at the Vancouver Games.

Adam Malysz of Poland won silver, and Gregor Schlierenzauer of Austria won the bronze.

Ammann scored 283.6 points. Malysz had 269.4 points and Schlierenzauer had 262.2.

Matti Nykanen of Finland also won four gold medals at the Winter Olympics, but one of them came in the team jump.

No American jumpers qualified for the finals.
