Opinion: Paris wrests control of herself

I probably should find something more weighty to write about than Paris Hilton at the beginning of the tabloid-media-frenzy her time in jail is sure to be. But one line from her statement today is pure editorial writer gold! I mean, it definitely falls directly into the category of Words to Live By. According to said statement, after contemplating her life a bit, Paris realizes that she has indeed made some mistakes and must take responsibility for her actions. ‘In the future,’ she pledges, ‘I plan on taking more of an active role in the decisions I make.’
I, too, plan to take more of an active role in the decisions Imake. As a matter of fact, I’ll even take a more active role in the views I express here, here and here (although frankly, you’ll have a hard time telling which of the latter I write because they’re all, umm, anonymous). The buck stops with me. Let the blaming begin.
