Constitutional convention campaign put on hold

Plagued by lackluster fundraising, a campaign aimed at fundamentally altering the state Constitution says it is “pausing” its efforts to qualify the constitutional convention measure for the November ballot.

A spokesman for Repair California told John Myers of KQED that the campaign has suspended its signature-gathering efforts but has not given up hope. John Grubb said they are ‘hoping there are some angels out there’ who will come up with the cash to kick-start the campaign.

The news follows a story in last week’s Capitol Weekly that indicated the constitutional convention effort was having troubles raising the estimated $3 million needed to qualify the measure for the November ballot.
