Singer Lou Reed will join the increasingly impressive lineup for the Escape to Plastic Beach tour, which star-studded concept band Gorillaz is bringing to the Gibson Amphitheatre on Wednesday night. The former Velvet Underground singer will join Gorillaz co-kingpin Damon Albarn and an ensemble also featuring Paul Simonon and Mick Jones of the Clash, funky R&B crooner Bobby Womack, hip-hop legends De La Soul, electronic outfit Little Dragon and Miho Hatori, formerly of Cibo Matto.
Gorillaz, which was created by former Blur lead singer Albarn and visual artist Jamie Hewlett as a collaborative art project/music group, has been touring the States in support of its recent full-length offering, ‘Plastic Beach.’
Reed also joined Gorillaz onstage at Madison Square Gardern on Oct. 8, where he performed ‘Some Kind of Nature,’ the song he appears on for ‘Plastic Beach.’
