‘Dancing’ with ad-libbing

There are six dancers left on ‘Dancing With the Stars’ and the energy is high at today’s taping. You would never know strikers are outside picketing -- or that the show, which has a slate of writers, was left without its scribes.
While some shows came to a halt with Monday’s strike, ‘DWTS’ was left to ad-lib. The show may look like a reality show, but it’s covered by the Writers Guild. As a result, the hosts were winging it at this afternoon’s taping at CBS Television City -- it’s live for East Coast audiences, broadcast later today for the West Coast.
Helio was up first with a tango that brought him a standing ovation. Backstage, Samantha Harris announced mock-angrily while staring into the TV cameras: ‘The reason Sabrina got voted off is because you didn’t vote for her.’
When the cameras came back to host Tom Bergeron, he added: ‘By the way, global warming, that’s your fault too.’
Who says this man needs writers?
