‘It’s totally mind over matter, and you have to keep telling yourself to keep your head up,” mused recently eliminated ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ contestant Kherington Payne during a conference call with the media this morning. Kherington’s overall message during the call was positivity.

“Tice [Diorio] was always a good philosopher,” recalled Kherington. “He always told us to keep our heads up and get the negative thoughts out.” Here are some of Kherington’s other insight’s from the call.

Kherington thanks her fans:

“They’re the reasons why I made it as far as I did!”

On missing her high school graduation:

“This is only a once-in-a-lifetime thing!”

On which of the guys she would have taken to the prom:

Twitch [Boss] probably would have been the best one. He would have been fun to take.”

On dancing with Twitch:

“Twitch was awesome to work with … we took correction from one another really well.”

On her tough night Wednesday:

“I thought I did the best that I could, given that literally I think the country two-step is the hardest routine I’ve ever had to learn.”

The best part of the process:

“I’ve never met so many friends … it was awesome being so close with all of them.”

The worst part of the process:

“Worst part is leaving it all. It’s really sad.”

On her ideal acting role:

“Anything, I guess, that would come my way. Any opportunity I would probably take.”

Lessons learned:

“I’ve learned how to be a stronger person.”
