TV new series report card

The five broadcast TV networks have made their decisions for next year, and the official schedules have been announced. In all, 32 scripted series have been ordered: 21 dramas and 11 comedies.

Of the 32 new shows, only 12 come from outside production studios, meaning that most of the new shows are owned by the networks that are airing them.

CBS, which ordered five dramas and one comedy, has one drama from Warner Bros. Television. The rest of its shows are produced by CBS Television Studios or CBS Paramount.

NBC ordered four dramas and two comedies. Five are produced by Universal Media Studios and one by Sony Television Studios.

Fox has four new comedies and two dramas. Three of them from 20th Century Fox Television, two from Warner Bros.Television and one from Sony Television Studios.

The CW bought four new dramas, all stemming from the network’s two parent companies, Warner Bros. Television and CBS Paramount.

ABC broke from the pack, ordering six dramas and four comedies, with seven of them produced by either Warner Bros. or 20th Century Fox Television. Only three are produced in-house by ABC Studios.

Warner Bros.Television landed the most new series, with a total of 10. Next was CBS Paramount with seven, followed by Universal Media Studios and 20th Century Fox Television, each with five. ABC Studios sold three new shows and Sony Pictures Television sold two.
