Disney Prep & Landing: In this charming animated special, Dave Foley gives voice to a member of the elite elf team that prepares for and oversees Santa’s arrival at children’s houses (8 p.m. ABC).

2009 Hollywood Christmas Parade: Grand Marshal Susan Lucci leads the parade of floats through Hollywood. Lonestar, Jon Secada, Five for Fighting and Devon Werkheiser are scheduled to perform (8 p.m. MyNet).

Christmas at the Cathedral: Beacon of Hope: The Most Rev. Paul J. Swain, bishop of the Diocese of Sioux Falls, S.D., delivers the message and Christmas blessing from St. Joseph Cathedral in a music-filled event featuring the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra, the St. Joseph Cathedral Choir and Men’s Schola, tenor Scott Piper, pianist Paul Sanchez, a multicultural children’s choir, and more (11:35 p.m. CBS).

Star Wars: Spike TV is airing the first three (or the last three) installments of the science fiction saga, beginning with 1977’s ‘Star Wars IV: A New Hope,’ (9 a.m. and 6 p.m.) starring Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill. Followed by 1980’s ‘Star Wars V: The Empire Strikes Back’ (Noon and 9 p.m.) and 1983’s ‘Star Wars VI: Return of the Jedi’ (3 p.m. and midnight).

It’s a Wonderful Life: James Stewart plays small-town dreamer George Bailey who deferred one big dream after another to stay home, marry a local girl and run the family business, when, as he’s facing financial ruin, he’s pulled from suicidal despair by an angel who shows him what a terrible place the world would be if he’d never lived. Donna Reed, Henry Travers and Lionel Barrymore star in director Frank Capra’s 1946 classic (8 p.m. NBC).

A Christmas Story: TBS begins its annual 24-hour Christmas marathon of this 1983 holiday treat starring Peter Billingsley and Darren McGavin (Every two hours beginning at 8 p.m.).

12 Men of Christmas: A public-relations executive (Kristin Chenoweth) uses her media savvy to stir up excitement in a small Montana town in this 2009 TV comedy (9 p.m. Lifetime).
