Mississippi River Quest: This three-part special on National Geographic follows a filmmaker, a scientist and a professional fisherman as they try to ride the length of the Mississippi River in a variety of vessels. The first hour, “Headwaters to Minneapolis,” (4 and 7 p.m.) finds the three embarking in kayaks. That’s followed by “Minneapolis to Memphis” (5 and 8 p.m.) and “Memphis to the Gulf” (6 and 9 p.m.).

Three Rivers: In this new episode, Andy (Alex O’Loughlin) puts Kuol (Owiso Odera) at the top of the donor list for a new heart after his condition deteriorates, but the transplant is jeopardized as police threaten to seize the money that was raised for the surgery (8 p.m. CBS).

What’s Great About America: Host John Stossel looks into socioeconomic factors that contribute to the American character, including examples of entrepreneurship, free speech, charity, military, racial tolerance, and the pursuit of happiness (6 p.m. Fox News).
