Christina Aguilera joins Adam Levine and Cee Lo on NBC’s ‘The Voice’

Just call her Coach Xtina: On Wednesday, NBC announced that five-time Grammy Award-winning pop star Christina Aguilera will mentor contestants on ‘The Voice,’ an ‘American Idol’-style singing competition that premieres April 26. Hosted by Carson Daly, the show pairs Aguilera with Adam Levine, who fronts the pop group Maroon 5, Cee Lo Green, who wrote a little song called, uh, ‘Forget You’ that you might have heard of, and one other to-be-determined coach.

Frankly, the good news couldn’t have come at a better time for the ‘Burlesque’ star: On Tuesday, Aguilera was arrested on a public drunkenness charge in West Hollywood, and people are still buzzing about her killing the national anthem and posing for racy photos that leaked online. In a statement issued by NBC, she certainly seemed excited to discuss something other than her track record.

‘I am so excited to be part of such a wonderful project that celebrates music and the talent behind it,’ she said. ‘To be given the opportunity to help shape new artists’ careers and mentor them to see their dreams come to fruition is a task I welcome with open arms. I am so happy to be working with fellow Grammy Award winners Adam and Cee Lo as I feel there is so much we can all bring to ‘The Voice.’ ‘
