I thought the headline in the Orange County Register on the USC loss was sensational (as in terrific):

‘Leave it to Beavers.’

As usual, Tom Hoffarth’s Sounding Off media column in the Daily News was a must read. There has been a lot of discussion on this blog about the WNBA from Melissa Rohlin, Diana Taurasi, Sue Favor and readers. But the Sparks’ cause is not being helped by ESPN2, which may or may not show Game 2 Saturday from San Antonio. Hoffarth explains the WNBA television situation.

Art Wilson also has a provocative horse racing column in the Daily News, imploring Curlin and his owner, Jess Jackson, to come West to face Big Brown in the Breeders’ Cup at Santa Anita.

Karen Crouse, who used to work for the Daily News, writes about Kurt Warner’s family life in a story for the New York Times. Particularly interesting are the eight rules Warner and his wife have established for their seven children.
