After UCLA and Fresno State combined to score 67 points by early in the fourth quarter at the Rose Bowl this afternoon, when the Bruins cut the Bulldogs’ lead to 36-31 with 11 minutes left to play, neither team could score again. That left UCLA with its third consecutive loss after a season-opening victory over Tennessee.

Bruins Coach Rick Neuheisel is sure to be criticized for giving Fresno State a do-over by taking a holding penalty after a critical third-down play came up short in the third quarter. The Bulldogs used the extra opportunity to score a touchdown on the next play.
