Mitch Mustain won USC’s game of musical chairs and will be the No. 2 quarterback behind starter Mark Sanchez on Saturday against No. 23 Oregon.

Mustain, the sophmore transfer from Arkansas, was fourth on the depth chart against Oregon State. But, like Garrett Green before him, he jumped two spots in a week.

‘The competition for that spot will remain open -- as always -- but Mitch has performed well and he’s our No. 2 quarterback for this weekend,’ Coach Pete Carroll said on his website.

Redshirt freshman Aaron Corp opened the season as the backup quarterback. It won’t be a surprise if Carroll and offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian give him the opportunity to reclaim the spot before next week’s game against Arizona State.
