John Wooden’s great-grandson among walk-ons named to Bruins team

John Wooden’s great-grandson, 6-foot freshman Tyler Trapani of Simi Valley High School, is one of six walk-ons named to the UCLA basketball team by Coach Ben Howland.

Today happens to be Wooden’s 98th birthday.

One other notable walk-on on the team is Jamie Diefenbach. The 6-foot-8, 250-pound senior is forgoing volleyball this season to focus on basketball. More later on latimes.com.
