Teams tackle drunk fans (not literally, but you get the idea)

More and more, professional sports organizations are striving to turn their games into family-friendly events. But that effort is often derailed because some fans either show up drunk, show up stupid, or get drunk and stupid once they get in the parking lot, or to their seats.

The Dodgers have made a special effort the past few years to eject the drunks and troublemakers, with Los Angeles police officers now a steady presence. But things still aren’t perfect. In Paul Pringle’s front-page story today, we learn that the areas near the foul poles, and not third base, are considered the ‘hot corners’ -- because of general fan rowdiness.

In Philadelphia, the Eagles have gone high-tech, with an anonymous text-messaging setup and eye-in-the-sky camera to zero in on those who would make their neighbors miserable.
