The Philadelphia 76ers are promoting this season as a ‘Brand New Look.’’

That is, of course, because of their off-season acquisition of former Clippers forward Elton Brand.

Brand tells USA Today that other clubs offered him better contracts and the Clippers offered him a deal comparable to the Sixers’. But he liked how Philadelphia improved during the second half: ‘I felt Philadelphia offered the best chance of winning.’

Still, it would have been interesting to see what would have happened if Brand had stayed in Los Angeles to play with Baron Davis.

In an earlier USA Today story, Brand implied he was fleeing the paparazzi by leaving Los Angeles, as if they dropped their stakeout at Britney Spears’ place to hang out at Clipper practices.
