Times columnist Patrick Goldstein writes in his ‘Big Picture’ blog today that the somber music playing in the background when Barack Obama appeared in Grant Park as the new president elect on Tuesday night was from the movie ‘Remember the Titans.’’

In case you didn’t see the movie, it’s about an African American football coach, Herman Boone (Denzel Washington), who becomes the head coach at a newly integrated high school in Alexandria, Va. He and his white assistant, Bill Yoast (Will Patton), bring the team together.
