A week ago the sports world police blotter included news that golfer John Daly had passed out in front of a Hooters in Winston-Salem, N.C., while an Arizona doctor won a restraining order to keep former University of Arizona college basketball coach Lute Olson’s former wife from harrassing him.

This week, the blotter includes Hungary’s Peter Farkas, a 1992 Olympic Greco-Roman wrestling champion who is being sought by authorities after walking out of a courthouse just before being hit with a five-year prison sentence on a drug charge. (His brother, Karoly, stayed in the courtroom.)

The charges date back to 2004, when police raided a home belonging to the brothers’ mother. Police described the thousands of marijuana plants and processing equipment found in the home as the largest marijuana plantation ever found in Budapest.

Next up is former U.S. Olympic Committee marketing executive John Krimsky, who pleaded guilty last week in Connecticut to child pornography charges. The 69-year-old Krimsky faces a six-year prison sentence and (with the possibility of three years being suspended), and 10 years probation.

Prosecutors said Krimsky’s computer had hundreds of images that appeared to be child pornography. The investigation followed a 2005 tip from the New York Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Krimsky served the USOC from 1986 to 1999. He helped the U.S. Olympics program to raise $2 billion, and helped the Salt Lake City WInter Games leadership bounce back from a bidding scandal.

And, finally (at least, for now) the Mobile (Alabama) Press-Register is reporting that an Escambia County couple died Saturday after an argument over the Alabama/LSU football game ended with a shotgun being fired.

Stay tuned.
