Dodgers: Monday morning spring training notes

Some quick hits from Manager Joe Torre‘s morning meeting with reporters:

• The Dodgers’ intrasquad game is today. Jason Schmidt will start for Team Koufax.
• Claudio Vargas will start the Dodgers’ Cactus League opener on Wednesday against the Chicago Cubs in Mesa. Eric Milton, Ramon Troncoso, Stephen Randolph, Nick DeBarr and Carmen Cali are also scheduled to pitch.
• Russell Martin, Rafael Furcal and Orlando Hudson won’t travel to Mesa on Wednesday.
• Pitching on Thursday against the San Francisco Giants will be Randy Wolf, Jeff Weaver, Eric Stults, Jonathan Broxton, Tanyon Sturtze, Edgar Martinez and Scott Strickland.
• Hong-Chih Kuo, Yhency Brazoban and Cory Wade will throw on flat ground today.
• Third baseman Casey Blake will do some work in the outfield in case the Dodgers want to move him to left field and Blake DeWitt to third.
