It has been a quarter century since Los Angeles welcomed the world for the 1984 Olympics, and organizers are planning a reunion dinner along with a series of events commemorating the occasion.

The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, which hosted the opening and closing ceremonies, will be the site for the dinner on July 18. Expected attendees include 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee President Peter Ueberroth, Coliseum torchbearer Rafer Johnson, opening/closing ceremonies producer David Wolper, and several athletes.

Other celebrations, to be announced at a later date, will be held this year at sports venues throughout the region.
