Connecticut Coach Jim Calhoun will miss his team’s first-round NCAA tournament game against Chattanooga at Wachovia Center in Philadelphia today.

‘Coach Calhoun has not been feeling well for the past several days, and it is best that he not coach the team today for precautionary reasons,’ said Dr. Jeff Anderson, the school’s director of sports medicine.

There was no indication of when Calhoun, who took part in a news conference on Wednesday, might be able to rejoin the team.

Earlier in the season, when Calhoun missed part of a game against Rutgers, the university announced that he was battling shingles.

The No. 1-seeded Huskies are big favorites to defeat No. 16 Chattanooga. Associate Head Coach George Blaney will lead the team.
