The faltering economy, undoubtedly, will impact the way certain NBA teams approach the summer.

It is expected that clubs will cut back on summer league participation.

But Clippers GM/Coach Mike Dunleavy said before Wednesday’s game against the Hornets that the organization still intended to put a team in the Las Vegas Summer League. In particular, it could be a valuable developmental tool for big man DeAndre Jordan, who is wrapping up his rookie season.

They might have more healthy players in Las Vegas than they did at times this season. Marcus Camby (sprained left ankle) did not practice today. Steve Novak, who suffered a sprained left ankle against the Hornets, is day-to-day, and Al Thornton (bone bruise, left foot) is scheduled to get an MRI later today.

Meanwhile, the Clippers’ Chris Kaman still wants to spend part of his summer with the German national team but is waiting to see what his buddy, Dirk Nowitzki of the Mavs, is going to do. Kaman was joking Wednesday that he knows about 60 German words.
